Statement re: Coventry and Warwickshire Mind Recovery Academy and the DWP Coventry & Warwickshire Mind Recovery Academy is run in partnership with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, and is about supporting people here and now with issues affecting their mental health and wellbeing. The session on Universal Credit is purely informative, and not about us endorsing the principles of the DWP changing to Universal Credits, but ensuring that our attendees are able to find out what their entitlements are and understand more about how to make claims. Coventry and Warwickshire Mind is here to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone. For many, financial pressures and in particular the benefits system is having a major impact on their mental health. The Recovery Academy is steered by a group of Experts by Experience, who have been involved since the service began and co-produced and co-deliver many of the courses. We will however review our work with the DWP as part of the next discussions with the steering group and if appropriate look for alternative methods of ensuring service users are informed of their rights in terms of their benefits.
