I joined the Buddy Service as I was feeling very lonely; I had lost contact with a lot of my friends due to a negative relationship I was having and arguing with my Mum all the time. When my relationship with my partner ended I found it difficult to trust people and I didn’t go out much.

Having someone to go out with every week and talk to helped me see that I could enjoy myself and learn to trust people again. I now have a really good relationship with my Mum and can talk to her a lot more, even about my new boyfriend who treats me with respect. I’m starting college in September to do childcare and looking for part-time work. Most of all I feel happier about myself, believe in myself more and make sure people treat me how I should be treated.

Because of my achievements I was even asked to help out on a job interview panel for Coventry and Warwickshire Mind and was able to help choose a new children and young people’s facilitator. I’m also going to help other young people who are on the Buddy Service by talking about my own experiences in a drama course they are running over the summer.
